Timeless Artists, Quality Craftsmanship, Impeccable Service

The Gallery

After growing up in Virginia, I moved to South Africa where I met and eventually married Gwyneth. After living in South Africa for more than 20 years, we moved to the United States. During our time living abroad, we experienced many cultures and gained an appreciation of art from our travels, which is what you will find at our gallery.  Commerce Street Gallery is a small shop with an ecclectic collection of art from around the globe.

We are an authorized dealer for Mort Kunstler, Applejack, Greenwich Workshop, Hadley House, Mill Pond Press and Somerset House Publishers. We carry original works, serigraphs, original etchings and limited edition lithographs.

The Gallery also carries the fine art porcelains from the Greenwich Workshop Collection. Creations of the fertile imaginations of James C. Christensen, Will Bullas and Scott Gustafson are superbly detailed and delicately hand painted.

Because Gwyneth and I lived in South Africa we have set aside a small section in one of our showrooms to promote South African art. We have ostrich eggs, original oils and limited edition prints of animals of Southern Africa, from artists such as Daniel Smith, Robert Bateman and Charles Frace. We also have a limited number of wall hangings from Zululand. The ladies do it all! shear, dye, spin the mohair wool and then design and weave the wall hanging.

Another exciting addition to the Gallery is the work of Ruth Clenance, known as Zarya. Motivated by the master graphic designer, Peter Carl Faberge, Ruth embraced the challenge of worthy design, conforming to the classic shape of the egg. The foundation of each piece is the untreated natural egg. Using gold plated designs, Swarovski crystals and semi precious stones, each piece is a delight to the eye. Commerce Street Gallery is privileged to showcase Ruth’s works of art.

We also have a section dedicated to Native American art with works by Howard Terpening, Judy Larson, Bev Doolittle, J.D challenger and others.

For those of you looking for something unique and special for that very special person in your life, or just to treat yourself, we strongly recommend these magnificent pieces of art.

Our travels have introduced us to a multitude of cultures and their art. We invite you to come by the Gallery to see what the world has to offer. Gwynneth and I look forward to sharing our travels with you.
